ALL IN THE DETAILS: Flower Power Kimono

March has arrived and so has the ennui as we wait for winter. As weeks of cold and snow are suddenly permeated by days of (relatively) warm weather, the call for spring outfits grows stronger. Yet, it’s still really, really cold outside. So how do you dress in such transitory weather? Layering a bright spring piece on top of your winter outfits may be the perfect solution!

This Fashionista nailed her casual and light winter to spring outfit. Although she is completely covered up, her look appears fresh and bright in the winter dreariness. I adore her floral kimono, especially. The dark blue and orange floral print on the cropped kimono is eye-catching and exciting, but she made it winter friendly by pairing a pastel sweater underneath. The varying options of kimonos means it’s easy to master their classic chicness. There are cropped styles like this Fashionista’s that are simple to layer, as well as the longer style that can lengthen the frame of a look.

To add to the outfit, this Fashionista wore a pair of light wash denim jeans, cuffed at the ankle. On her wrist she wore a stylish watch with a brown leather strap. Her jewelry was minimal, which added to the casual spirit of her bright look.

How To: Yearning for spring, but still need to dress for cold? Layer a bright kimono on top of a warm sweater! This combo is versatile and can be paired with light denim jeans or a high-waisted skirt with some thick tights. Throw on a pair of boots and the look is complete!
