ALL IN THE DETAILS: Fifty Shades of Sunnies

September 30th, 2015 at 2:10am

Now that we are almost through September, it’s safe to say that summer is officially over. However, this does not necessarily mean that all of our accessories that we usually rock during the summer have to be tucked away quite yet. Here at Elon, the afternoons are still hitting the high 80s and everyone is still enjoying the sun outside. This means that sunglasses are still a must, so why not take full advantage of being able to wear these colorful and trendy accessories for just a little while longer?

This gorgeous Fashionista used her sunglasses to tie together her entire outfit. Not to mention, her sunglasses are the perfect example of all the most popular trends in eyewear right now. The round lenses of these sunglasses really create a retro, fashion-forward look that many have come to love, including celebrities such as Beyoncé Knowles, Kylie Jenner and even the Olsen twins. The mirrored and multi-colored lenses help to complement the rest of her outfit because of the wide range of colors being reflected. This is a great way to add fun detail when wearing simple pieces. In this case, this Fashionista’s sunglasses highlight the colors in her patterned shorts! And let’s be real, the tortoise patterned frames allow this accessory to go with just about anything, making these sunglasses even more of a gem.

The rest of this Fashionista’s look includes a white graphic bohemian halter tank top from Billabong, colorful patterned shorts from T.J. Maxx and black, gold-plated sandals from Sam Edelman. The bracelets and rings are from a wide variety of brands including David Yurman, Lokai, Tacori, Etsy and Lily and Laura. Lily and Laura bracelets are handcrafted glass beaded bracelets made by women in Nepal and all proceeds go towards supporting these women.

How To: This look is incredibly simple to recreate! On a bright and sunny day, grab yourself a pair of sunglasses just like this Fashionista’s and wear other pieces that easily match the shades of colors in the mirrored lenses of your sunnies. The best part is, neutrals and colors will be great accents to these trendy sunglasses.
