ALL IN THE DETAILS: Festival Flower

Music festivals have become a huge influence in fashion, which is one reason summer is my favorite time of year. I may be biased because bohemian style is my favorite, but I also love that people feel free to express themselves and step outside of the box at festivals. Patterns are mixed, faces are painted and flowers become accessories. Accessories add the finishing touch to the outfit, whether it’s a flower crown or some bangles.

University of Wisconsin, Stout, isn’t a very busy campus in the summer, and not many people put a lot of thought into their outfits, so when I saw this Fashionista, I knew I had to snap her picture. She is the perfect example of festival fashion and festival accessorizing. A pair of black high-waisted shorts and gray tank top with beautiful braided detailing at the armholes (both from American Eagle Outfitters) create a perfect canvas to add color with accessories. The red in the flower crown adds a perfect pop of color and are a staple in festival fashion. The gold in her jewelry stands out and emphasizes her simple outfit, but also not too much. She will look amazing dancing the night away at her next festival.

How To: Next time you go jewelry shopping, pick a color palette that complements your outfit. This Fashionista had a neutral palette, so any colors would have worked, but you could also go to the opposite end of the spectrum and mix every and any color. Just remember to be yourself, and don’t be afraid to try something new.
