ALL IN THE DETAILS: Double Spilt

Spring is finally in full effect and it’s time to take our legs out of hiding. Last spring it was all about the bright colored, flowy maxi’s. This spring the classic maxi has been revamped. Double split maxi’s are sexy, bold and edgy. Whether a day of classes or a night on the town, maxi’s can be dressed up or down. The best part about them is that they flatter just about everybody’s shape and hugs in all the right curves.

This Fashionista gave us grunge-chic with a feminine touch in this daytime ensemble. She wore a black fringed chiffon kimono with a basic V-neck bralette. Instead of a basic maxi, this Fashionista chose a double split maxi with silver zipper detailing. The zipper detailing definitely makes for an edgier look with contrast to the softness of the kimono. Her choice of cheetah print Vans adds a great pop of color. Rather than going all out with accessories, this Fashionista kept it simple with a bold red lip and a chic pair of round over-sized black tinted sunglasses.

How To: Have an old maxi skirt you have not worn in awhile? Spruce it up! Double split maxi skirts are a huge trend this season and I am all about recycling clothes. Simply put on your skirt, measure out exactly where you want your splits to be and cut straight up to your desired height. Pair your reconstructed skirt with your favorite crop top or bralette and you are ready to go!
