I absolutely adore polka-dots! When a look has polka-dots AND another print, I just die and go to heaven. Mixing prints is very much a trend that is here to stay for the fall season. As seen on Style.com, many different designers, from Marc Jacobs to Proenza Schouler, have explored this motif in their collections. In addition to prints, many designers such as Burberry Prorsum and Stella McCartney have found a love for polka-dots lately.
This Fashionista has clearly kept her ear to the ground on the latest fashion. She combines a polka-dot A-line skirt with a cat print crop top, leather mahogany flip flops and a black and brown cross-body bag. Her cute bob hair-do is the perfect complement for this outfit. With this look, she has shown that you can mix prints and look fashionable without looking overwhelming. By using a muted black and white color scheme, she is able to look classic and current at the same time.
How to: To mix up your dots, you might want to start out with a more reserved color scheme like this Fashionista does. Some comfortable pleated pants with a bird print could be a good starting point. This polka-dot beige blouse would be a good complement to the pants, and a great play on prints with polka-dots. Just add a pair of nude pumps and a bright colored bag and you are good to go! Another graceful option could be this adorable and flattering A-line polka-dot dress with a floral print blazer. Or if those options are a bit too extreme for you, try to dot yourself in accessories. This Nordstrom clutch could be great paired against these Shopbop flats, for a more subdued use of polka-dots. Well that’s all for now! I will see you Fashionistas soon for an exciting fall 2014 season!
