ALL IN THE DETAILS: Crocheting Hair

Winter is the time where we one thing is forgotten about for some Fashionistas. Everybody say it—hair. A lot of times, our hair is the one thing that we forget to style up and make sure it goes with our outfit. I understand cold air, laziness and forgetfulness all come in play here, but I’m bringing you this Fashionista who found a way to look fabulous from head to toe.

Protective styling is what all of us hear during the winter months to keep our hair safe from the dry air. However, many of us don’t know exactly what protective style to do and how much time we’re willing to spend on it.

This Fashionista used crochet braids, which is exactly what it sounds like. It’s basically just crocheting braids onto your hair that has been braided to your scalp. The type of hair usually used is called marley hair, but you can also use cuban twist hair. By doing this, she achieves a look that still looks natural, but protects her hair from damage. That’s a key point here. Make sure that whatever protective style you choose, check that it looks natural on you and not fake. Since you’re going to be wearing this more than a week, looking natural is the key.

How To: To achieve this look, ask around if anyone knows how to do crochet braids or go on YouTube where there are tons of tutorials on how to achieve this style. Don’t have the time to do this? Well, you can use either flexi or perm rods to get the loose curls like she has. When you’re all done with your hair, put on a bright, bold lipstick to complete your whole look!
