ALL IN THE DETAILS: Casually Put Together

I love men’s wear. I love it so much that I sometimes mix pieces in with my own wardrobe. I love a masculine trouser on a woman’s body or a big, oversize dress shirt that hangs off the body and creates all sorts of delicious angles and motions. It’s edgy and power demanding and can look incredible when paired with the right shoes.

But hey, I love men’s wear on men too. I think that it is often assumed that all the fun to be had is in women’s wear, but that could not be further from the truth. So this month I wanted to explore the world of modern men’s street style. As Deniece William’s says in her 1984 song, “let’s hear it for the boy” … who knows how to dress. I am always being inspired by the 1950s biker guy look or the iconic ’80s jock varsity jacket. I love the way men’s street style plays with proportion and the idea of masculinity.

So I set out to find a modern day man in true 2017 fashion. Immediately, the man bun came to mind. I don’t know about you but I love me a good man bun. It’s edgy and modern, fun but yet still put together. I love finding a balance like this in style. I think that is just what this look achieves.

This Fashionisto is wearing a pair of tapered, dark wash jeans paired with a plain V-neck with a knit cardigan over it. The look gets dressed up just a little with a great pair of lace up, deep brown dress shoes. He keeps his accessories to a minimum with a statement making watch. The colors are neutral and play off the weather well.

This look is perfect for a casual date night at the local coffee shop, a chilly Sunday morning brunch out. Or just hanging around and heading to class. It’s cozy while still being put together and looking far from lazy. I love when a look has versatility.
