ALL IN THE DETAILS: Casually Classy

I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s not easy for me to decide if I want my outfit for the day to be a little more dressy, or laid back. I may have a special event at some point in the day, but it’s important to me to feel comfortable as well. It’s not always easy to balance the two, but I found someone who has got it down.

When I first saw this Fashionista’s outfit, I liked her skirt and how beautiful and classy it was because of the black and white scalloped stripes. But after some thought, I realized that it is an incredibly versatile piece as well. This skirt could be paired with heels and a blazer for a day at work, a crop top to spend a night out with friends or even a chambray shirt to go out to lunch with family. It all boils down to how you choose to accessorize such a versatile piece.

Every Fashionista/o knows that accessorizing makes an outfit your own. Just by swapping out jewelry, scarves, socks or a belt, an outfit can have a totally different look. I also love how accessories can be worn in almost any season, which makes them a secret weapon in piecing together the perfect outfit.

For example, this Fashionista took her structured pleated skirt and put a casual twist on it. She chose a pastel necklace that stood out from her mostly neutral outfit, giving it a fresh springy feel. The watch she wears fits the easygoing character of the chambray shirt and even ties in some of the gold from her necklace and sandals. I was very intrigued with how this Fashionista gave her skirt a more laid-back appearance by layering a chambray shirt over her tank top to keep warm in the colder summer mornings.

How To: A great way to piece together a polished yet comfortable outfit would be by starting with your favorite structured skirt. Add a soft chambray shirt and a lovely pair of flats or sandals. Including a statement necklace, bracelets or a watch can help you achieve a sophisticated look. Fancy never felt so good!
