ALL IN THE DETAILS: Campus-Chic Boyfriend Jeans

The key to bringing high class style to your college campus really is all in the details. This Fashionista can teach us a lesson or two about combining some of the season’s hottest trends into a chic, campus-ready look. She created a street style look by combining a few super stylish details into one trendy outfit that can be dressed up or down. This look can be worn for several different occasions such as date night, shopping with friends, brunch on the weekend or to class like she chose to do.

Seriously though, what’s not to love about this look? This Fashionista took trendy to the next level. To start out, she picked a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans, one of the hottest fall trends. A good pair of jeans are hard to find, but these bottoms fit her well and add just the right amount of grunge, while still remaining completely chic and stylish. Not to mention, they add length and help to elongate the legs, especially when paired with heels or booties.

Next, she added a simple white oversized linen button-down blouse over a black lace bralette. The contrasting black and white color scheme really gives it a sophisticated feel. Pairing the blouse with the bralette was a great choice as it’s perfect for adding subtle details. Bralettes are my favorite for dressing up bland looks and taking them from basic to bold. The lace in the bralette is fun and flirty, while providing the right amount of detail and coverage.

She topped the outfit off with black booties that pair well with the length and cut of her boyfriend jeans; they break up the masculinity with a touch of femininity. She also added a contrasting skinny cheetah print belt for a bold statement. This is one of the most overlooked “outfit-toppers” (as I like to call it). Belts are super easy to add and can be the perfect finishing detail for any outfit. If you think your outfit just isn’t complete or you want to add that extra “umph” to your look, try adding a bright colored purse or belt. You can also do what this Fashionista did and use a print or pattern, like cheetah. You will be surprised at how much better you feel about your finished look with just one simple accessory. Her finishing touches were a gold watch and a layered V necklace from Anna Beck Jewelry.

How To: Want to score a street-style, campus-ready look like this Fashionista? Start with a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans. I also like the dark boyfriend jeans from Hudson. Then add a regular lace bralette and a solid color linen blouse or button up blouse. I would grab it in a size up for an oversized, loose fit. Top it off with some trendy details: a skinny statement belt or statement purse and a chic pair of booties that show a little ankle skin below the cuff of the jeans.
