ALL IN THE DETAILS: Calling All Kimonos

March 18th, 2015 at 2:00am

Although I lust over the average monochromatic outfits, there are certainly times where a pop of a color is necessary. Nothing seems better for that than the spring time. The weather is warmer, and the days are longer, indicating that spring is right beneath our toes. What better way to transition into the warmer days than by throwing off the winter layers?

By slipping on a lightweight, floral kimono, this Fashionista screams spring. This is the time to bring out the white, the blue and the floral. Florals happen to be one of my favorite spring trends. Although florals can be intimidating and a little overwhelming, they are fabulous additions to any Fashionistas/os wardrobe during this season. This Fashionista went for a bold, bright kimono. I love how she knew to pair it with neutrals. Her black skinny jeans and booties kept the look cohesive, while the white tank top brought out the colors in her kimono. By sticking to a neutral palette underneath, the kimono was left as the focal point of the outfit. Kimonos should be statement pieces; one should dress around it without the addition of any distracting pieces. She knew that when she paired her outfit with a blue satchel purse, she gave this adorable number continuity.

This Fashionista pulled the right pieces from her closet for the perfect spring outfit. Her minimalistic jewelry made sure not to take away from the ensemble while still being unique. What caught my eye was her dainty earrings and authentic watch. I’m well aware that I won’t be finding those at a Forever 21. This Fashionista has a way of fabulously incorporating the most delicate pieces in her wardrobe.

How To: Are you feeling a little bored with your neutral palette outfits? Just slip on a daring, printed kimono to spruce things up a bit! Keep in mind that less is more in this case, so stick with minimal jewelry that adds to the feminine feel you’re going for.
