ALL IN THE DETAILS: Business In The Front, Party In The Back

June 9th, 2015 at 2:00am

We have all had that moment where we wanted to wear something that was easy and required little effort, but at the same time had one detail that stood out. Today’s Fashionista shows a perfect way to do that with the quintessential blouse, dark wash skinny jeans and wedges.

Those three items sound completely ordinary, but not the way today’s Fashionista wore them. What made her look different was the detail on the back of her green top (here is a similar one). The striking part of the look was the low-cut back which was overlaid with draping strings of fabric and were overlaid in a crisscross pattern. So many different designers have used cutout patterns in their collections including the spring 2015 ready-to-wear shows by both IroReem Acra and in the spring 2013 ready-to-wear show by Zac Posen (doesn’t Coco Rocha just make those cutouts look even more fabulous?).

The use of cutout patterns is a fun and simple trend to try this summer. If you have a top with a cutout detail, pairing it with dark wash jeans is perfect because it keeps the attention on the top while still looking sleek. Adding a neutral toned pair of wedges helps elongate the legs and unlike heels they are still comfortable. Finish off the look with minimal jewelry like this Fashionista’s silver watch, small hoop earrings and long pendant necklace. With an ensemble like this, you are sure to look classic and cute from the front and trendy and daring from the back. The best of both worlds.

How To: Don’t want to show too much skin? Try pieces with smaller cutout details that still add something extra to your look, such as this top.
