There is no doubt that it’s getting a lot chillier. Although we have cute statement necklaces that we want to sport, some days it’s just not enough to keep us warm.

Gloves, hats and even the occasional pair of earmuffs may do the job, but this Fashionista found a way to take warmth to a whole new level. Her blanket scarf is perfect for keeping the winter weather out and the runway trends in.

In their fall 2014 ready-to-wear collections, designers like Temperley London  showed various ways you can wear a blanket scarf to really complete a look or just make a statement. They showed it belted in, but also draped in a way that made the outfit look overflowing in the best of ways.

Blanket scarves are a lot bigger than the average accessories in your closet. When opening them up, you could literally use them as a blanket. In this Fashionista’s outfit, she lets the scarf hang. However, you can also wrap it or tie it up to look like an infinity scarf.

My favorite part of her scarf is the plaid pattern. Plaid is one of those classic patterns, like floral or polka-dots, which just never seems to go out of style. We see it on all sorts of pieces in our closets such as flannels, socks and boots, like the winter ones this Fashionista is totally rocking. For the colder weather, replicating the patterns we typically would see on our comfy blankets or comforters at home makes our outfits a bit cozier, .

She chooses to complement the plaid in her scarf with a basic, striped long sleeve shirt and a pair of bright red and white gloves. The gloves are a great addition to her look because they really pull out the red tones in the blanket scarf and bring a little warmth to her cold weather accessories.

So get cozy because when the cold weather comes, so does a lot of potential to look cute. And who wouldn’t want to snuggle up in a scarf like that?

How To: Need to dress up a bit? Add any blanket scarf to make a simple dress much cozier! Throw on a pair of black tights, knit socks and a pair of boots to really complete your winter look.
