ALL IN THE DETAILS: Boyfriend Jeans

This winter has been unseasonably warm in the Midwest. It wasn’t until the second week of January that I had to dig my heavy winter coat out of the back of my closet. Not that I’m complaining or anything. If I never had to bare through an Indiana winter again I would be one happy lady, but the normal winter get up now seems foreign. Instead of bundling in layers upon layers of my thickest thermals, warmest jackets and fuzziest socks, I have been able to comfortably wear the majority of my fall clothes paired with a leather jacket.

Another advantage of the warmer winter weather is being able to wear distressed denim without feeling as if your legs are going to shatter like glass after immediate contact with the frigid air—dramatic, maybe, but I really do hate winter. Boyfriend jeans, characterized by their relaxed fit and effortless look, are becoming an essential in women’s closets.  Unlike their skinny siblings, you don’t have to lay down, suck in or jump around to get these babies on. They also are super versatile. For a simple and chic outfit, pair them with your favorite pumps and a white, crisp V-neck T-shirt. Transition your outfit from day to night by adding a blazer or a leather jacket.

My adorable Fashionista featured above, is a layering queen. She chose to wear her boyfriend jeans with a slouchy top and a plush, pale pink jacket. Her low cut top allowed her to show off her strappy bralette, which she complemented with a crystal necklace. The outfit is completed by her amazing cut out booties that closely resemble Jeffrey Campbell’s Cromwell boot—but are just a fourth of the price!

How To: Recreate this look by finding a pair of relaxed fit, distressed denim. Roll the cuffs and throw on your favorite shoes for the occasion!
