ALL IN THE DETAILS: Bombardment of Beige

As the middle of the semester is approaching, many people on campus are wondering when the spring weather will start appearing. The temperatures have risen and declined, and people are getting frustrated with figuring out what to wear and when to wear it. During my morning walk to class on a seemingly mild day, I spotted this Fashionista wearing a trendy, beige trench coat. Trench coats are a perfect way to incorporate spring attire while still in the winter season.

Wearing a trench coat sets this Fashionista apart in the monsoon of The North Face jackets, puffer vests and peacoats that are seen every day on campus. As soon as I saw her coat, I remembered seeing one just like it in Alexander Wang’s pre-fall 2015 collection. Alexander Wang featured many neutral colors, including beige, and it’s been said that it will be the new “winter white.” It is safe to say that this Fashionista almost replicates a look that was on the runway. She is way ahead of the game!

The way this Fashionista styles her beige trench coat for winter is key. Her main focus was to make sure that the beige color stood out against her mostly monochromatic outfit. By pairing her trench coat with a black-and-white striped top and dark skinny jeans, the beige totally popped. Adding accessories such as a statement necklace, cheetah print slip-on shoes and a cheetah print Coach bag also helped to bring out the beige in her coat and kept her outfit fun and interesting.

How To: Is it too cold to wear just a trench coat and a light top? Try wearing a tunic sweater underneath with black leggings. The neutrality of the outfit will help make the beige trench coat stand out. If you have a longer trench coat, try pairing it with a classy LBD, tights and heels. It will help create a classy, professional, chic look.
