ALL IN THE DETAILS: Blue Jean Baby

What’s more American than denim? I can just see the famous image of James Dean kicking back in his convertible with his feet on the dashboard, exposing his 501s for all to admire. What about Cindy Crawford’s iconic advertising campaign for Pepsi? Lana Del Rey even has a song titled “Blue Jeans”. The list goes on. Denim can be practical and chic at the same time. You can wear it for many different occasions from running errands to a girls’ night out. This Fourth of July, you can wear it to a family picnic or fireworks with friends.

This Fashionista is channeling an all-American look. Her denim-on-denim ensemble is relaxed, yet cool. She is wearing a denim vest over a white graphic T-shirt, paired with black skinny jeans. Additionally, she is wearing heeled, leather summer sandals with a touch of silver on the middle strap. She has mixed gold and silver jewelry, which is typically one of the cardinal sins of fashion. However, it works in this case because her shoes tie the outfit together, creating a polished look. With a touch of purple lipstick, a makeup trend of the summer, she’s good to go.

How To: Canadian tuxedo, step aside. To wear a denim-on-denim look, pair a chambray top or denim vest with a denim pair of pants or shorts in another color wash. Pair it with sandals or brown leather booties and interesting jewelry to top it all off. On the Fourth, complete your look with a fabulous red (or purple) lip.
