ALL IN THE DETAILS: Blue Jean Baby

Spring has finally arrived, which means that it’s time to go through your wardrobe and remove your winter clothes. Some heavier coats and outerwear are going to be packed away in boxes and forgotten about until next fall, but there is one article of clothing that should be in your closet all year long—a versatile, lightweight denim jacket.

Light or dark wash, a comfortable denim jacket is all you need to throw on before heading out the door to enjoy a nice spring day (or a rainy one). They look great with layers or simply thrown on over a T-shirt. Denim jackets were wildly popular in the ’90s and, like many other ’90s looks, they’ve made a killer comeback. If you take a walk around campus, I’m sure you’ll find denim jackets everywhere you go. They add just the right amount of grunge and can be worn with almost any outfit.

This Fashionisto has the denim look down. Another look that’s been super trendy lately is denim-on-denim. While denim-on-denim can be a bit tough to master, he makes it look effortless. He pairs his light wash denim jacket with a pair of dark wash blue jeans, a simple olive-colored T-shirt and a pair of brown suede oxfords with red shoelaces for a pop of color. His leather watch and silver ring are simple and complement the rest of his outfit perfectly.

How To: Want to make your denim jacket pop? Add some colorful patches! A few smiley face or band patches, sewed on around the collar or pockets, add personality and flare to your already cool denim jacket.
