ALL IN THE DETAILS: Blue Caps and Brown Backpacks

April 27th, 2016 at 2:06am

Two key items that can make your set of clothes stand out are caps and backpacks. Hats have always been in fashion; however, baseball caps are specifically making a comeback. And for backpacks, they seem to be one of those items you thought was left behind in high school, but, surprisingly enough, they have also made their way onto college campuses.

It’s always interesting to see which items students opt for when walking around campus. Caps are perfect because they can either help with that bad hair day or add a little flare to your look. And while backpacks are meant to carry your books and that heavy laptop, they also make for great statement pieces.

I spotted the Fashionisto in the pictures above on my way to class. I liked how unique and original his ensemble was, so I captured some shots to showcase the detailing and contrasts. Let’s see how he combined intricate accessories to mix and match.

He opted for a casual style by pairing black pants with a burgundy sweater, a brown winter coat and white sneakers. He also accessorized with a blue Toronto Blue Jays baseball cap and a brown leather backpack. The accessories are a pivotal component of his outfit as they contrast with the rest of the clothing. This is not an easy thing to do; you have to choose items that can be combined nicely, even if they are from different color ranges. The cap and backpack are therefore statement pieces, as they further reinforce the outfit’s unique color contrasts. The Fashionisto’s outfit is a perfect example of mixing and matching. The accessories add interest to the ensemble and make it more playful.

Mixing and matching can definitely be a tedious task. However, keep practicing and experimenting until you find a look that works for you!

How To: Need a way to mix and match? Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! Try to wear items that are just a tad extravagant, as they can add spark to a plain habiliment.
