It was a boiling and humid 90-degrees when I discovered this week’s Fashionista. Managing to look hot but not sweaty is a feat, but this Fashionista appeared to do it with such poise.
When questioned about her style, this Fashionista replied with some of the best fashion advice I’ve heard. She said she keeps her eyes out for basic staple pieces. In addition, she looks for versatile items that will last awhile. For example, her classic Ralph Lauren brown leather bag is an item will never be obsolete.
Another great thing to take note of is this Fashionista’s emphasis on comfort. From head to toe our Fashionista makes comfort a priority. Her relaxed cropped T-shirt and high-waisted shorts combination with her supportive Birkenstocks make for the perfect walking around town outfit.
What initially caught my eye were the necklaces. While the rest of this Fashionista’s outfit stays within the neutral color spectrum, her necklaces add color and flair. A well known trend is that of layering. While it does look cute, in the sweltering heat of summer, layering isn’t the most practical. Layering, however, can be achieved in a different manner—through accessories. As a reminder, the necklaces can be a different scheme from that of the outfit, but the necklaces themselves should have some commonality. For example, our Fashionista made sure all three of her necklaces had silver.
How To: Step one is to load up on the basics, like shirts and shorts in a multitude of neutral colors. A white, gray or black shirt T-shirt will never go out of style. If you’re feeling like you want to show a little more skin, opt for the cropped version. With high-waisted shorts being in high demand, you can get a great pair for a reasonable price. Let your mood determine what necklaces you choose. Feeling more tribal? Select a beaded necklace like our Fashionista’s. If you’re feeling edgy, try a necklace like this one. For those who want something girly, this one is a great option. Last, but not least, don’t forget your leather bag and your go-to sunglasses.
