ALL IN THE DETAILS: Back to Basics

When it comes to being a college student, it can be hard not only to afford nice clothing, but also find a place to store everything in your tiny dorm or apartment. That is why it is so important to have a few statement pieces tossed in with a whole lot of basics in your closet. Anything that is affordable, can be dressed up or down, and goes with almost everything you own is what I would consider to be a basic.

We all have items in our wardrobes we have spent a pretty penny on, but it isn’t necessary to splurge on every single item in your closet. I have found that a good shoe, some jewelry, and one over-the-top statement piece can instantly take your outfit from drab to fab in seconds.

This Fashionista did exactly that. She paired some inexpensive black jeans and knit black turtleneck with some Valentino booties and a faux fur coat. By adding an expensive fur and booties to her otherwise simple outfit, she made the entire look seem expensive and perfectly chic. Now, I am not saying that you need to go out and buy designer booties in order to recreate this look. There are plenty of cheaper options that can create the same outfit, but it does help to have at least one go-to shoe or coat in your closet you know will always take your outfit to the next level.

By layering gold bracelets that match the studs on her ankle boots and finding a coat that ties the entire outfit together, this Fashionista proved that the secret to a good outfit really is all in the details.
