ALL IN THE DETAILS: As Good as Gold

As summer vacation comes to a close and the academic year begins, everyone starts to feel a mix of excitement and reluctance. People want to catch up with friends, expand their knowledge and make the most of their college experience. On the other hand, people also feel uneasy knowing that sporadic stressful periods can emerge throughout the semester. When these temporary downfalls hit, it’s tempting to jump out of bed and change into sweats. I know, I know, sweats are too comfy! But, there are other ways to look chic and feel comfortable at the same time. For instance, try spicing up a simple T-shirt dress with gold accessories.

This Fashionista picked out a casual, black T-shirt dress from H&M as the base of her outfit. In order to bring this T-shirt dress to life, she added a few subtle gold accessories. She had mentioned that because gold is such a classy color, it can easily transform casual-looking outfits into more sophisticated ones. Her most noticeable gold accessory is her BaubleBar Y-chain necklace, which has adorable moon charms woven into it. Because the necklace layers right over the T-shirt, its brighter gold color contrasts with the darkness of the tee. Additional gold accessories that provide further subtle contrasts with the T-shirt dress include a gold watch from kate spade and an ear crawler from BaubleBar. And because this Fashionista has a golden balayage worked into her natural black hair, her hairstyle complements this outfit as well.

Lastly, this Fashionista picked up some Franco Sarto booties to complete the overall look. The black booties have little gold zippers, which provide continuity of her outfit’s black and gold theme.

This look is just as comfy and easy to slip on as sweatpants, a T-shirt and sneakers! Simply throw a T-shirt dress over your head, gather a few gold accessories and head out the door.

How To: Find a comfy, basic and plain T-shirt dress: it doesn’t matter what color the shirt is, but dark colors work best. Pair the tee with as few or as many gold accessories (necklaces, watches, bracelets, earrings) as you want.
