ALL IN THE DETAILS: Ahead of the Game

In Texas, we don’t really get cold weather like the rest of the United States, but this time of year is as good as we get. During this time when the temperatures have dropped, Fashionisto’s can really express themselves by experimenting with layering, accessorizing, and mixing different clothing styles and fabrics. This season currently is all about staying warm and cozy while still serving looks, which we at the University of North Texas take very seriously.

This Fashionisto’s outfit is all about keeping warm while maintaining an icy look. This was done by staying ahead of the game, and bringing back the corduroy jacket before the rest of the world adopts it again (it won’t be very long). This coat in particular has a baby blue, flannel interior that helps the Fashionisto stay warm all while getting bonus points because of the contrasting corduroy on the outside. H&M black skinny jeans are basically the perfect fit, and with the college budget in mind there really is no better alternative out there than these gems. The T-shirt under the jacket was thrifted, and has an elephant on the left side of the chest (sometimes you get lucky), and this coincides perfectly with the gold elephant necklace he is wearing. A couple of beaded bracelets on one wrist, and a classic black leather band watch on the other finished off with a subtle gold ring help complete the accessorized look, and give depth to the outfit. My favorite parts of this outfit however, are on the feet, and they really scream that this Fashionisto has more style than the average student. The Gucci snow boots are classy and sleek, and are the absolute essential piece that makes this outfit stand above the rest. They might not be on a college budget exactly, but if you have the means to acquire a pair, there really aren’t that many investments as worthy of your money as these.

Fashion, as we all know, is all about self-expression, and one of the easiest ways to incorporate this in our personal style is by using accessories. So, when you go out shopping this year, pick interesting items that say a little something about you or your personality, and help you stand out from the crowd. After all, we are all unique and our different experiences and cultures are what create individuality, so don’t be afraid to take a risk and express who you are this year!
