ALL IN THE DETAILS: Accessorizing Your Boyfriend

The classic boyfriend jean is synonymous with dressing down and an “I woke up like this” look. However, your boyfriend jeans do not always need to lack accessories and detail. This Fashionista rocks her boyfriend jeans and adds a ton of accessories and a colorful heel to dress them up. It is about time our boyfriend jeans received a little more attention than just a slouchy shirt and some Birkenstocks (We are all guilty of that one).

I love how this Fashionista is not afraid to be bold with her accessories. As I observe the way I accessorize, I normally stick to the bare minimal to not distract from my outfit. She not only adds a few key pieces of jewelry, but she piles on a hat and some pastel-colored heels to complement her loose jeans and T-shirt. I asked our Fashionista on why she opted to accessorize such a classic look and her response was, “I always used to leave my room regretting not putting on a certain necklace, or bracelet, or hat and so now I pile on whatever works. I view my outfit as a plain canvas waiting to be accessorized.”

Without these accessories, the outfit would be a typical boyfriend jean look: baggy T-shirt and loose jeans. The jewelry, hat and heels all add to her put together look and will definitely make people do a double take when they see this Fashionista strutting by on her way to class. So, keep her advice in mind while putting together your day-to-day outfit and view your outfit as a plain canvas.

How To: Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and be bold while adding jewelry. Adding the unexpected can sometimes turn out for a killer outfit. Who would have thought that a pair of pastel heels would go well with some ripped up jeans? Jewelry and accessorizing is all about experimenting, so do not be shy and pile on as much as you can.
