It might be the spring semester but it sure feels like it’s still winter. While of course as a Fashionista/o, you strive to dress to impress everyday but sometimes, it’s common to find yourself in a style rut. Winter usually means tons of basic pieces that keep us warm but that too, can get a little monotonous. However, this Fashionista is a prime example of taking the basics and making them stand out in the snow.

Her outfit consists of closet go-tos like a plain black T-shirt, skinny jeans and a winter-appropriate fur-rimmed parka, yet she adds an extra flair by piling on trendy accessories. As they say, if you want to make a statement, go big or go home and this Fashionista does a great job of that by wearing two statement pieces; a statement scarf and a statement necklace. Her tribal scarf adds color to her outfit while not competing with the ornate neckpiece underneath. It’s also great that the scarf keeps her warm when she’s outside, yet once she’s in class, she can take it off and still have something to dress up her look. This Fashionista clearly loves her accessories as she perfects her look with earrings, a couple of simple rings and of course, a winning smile dressed in a pretty lip color.

How To: Don’t be afraid to have two standout accessories in one look; just make sure they are complimentary, with one more subdued than the other. Try mixing and matching a simpler headband with a statement necklace or pair a patterned blanket scarf with simple studs.
