Whether you are a fashion know-it-all or just developing a new passion for it, one thing is clear: there are specific trends during certain seasons. For example, during summer it’s about floral and fun prints. Come fall, boots and scarves will be back. Then there are the holidays, which seem to be a season in itself. Stores will tend to carry clothes with lots of shimmer during this time. This week’s Fashionista sported this trend.
A bit of shimmer is a great detail and one that makes a big impact. This Fashionista’s outfit caught my eye right away with her A-line dress shimmering with gold sequins. The bottom portion of the dress contains deep, rich purple and red tones with a light dusting of gold sparkles. Even her belt has some shimmer!
The overall sparkle in her outfit was rather unexpected during this time when almost everybody is wearing lose and light fabrics, but it works! She also wore a light gray ruffle trim cardigan. For accessories, she chose a silver pendant, a creme and baby blue over the shoulder bag and classic ballet flats. This is a super cute and easy outfit to do for a dinner night out on the town.
How To: Anthropologie has a dress similar to this Fashionista’s but with a black top rather than gold. This skirt from the Nordstrom anniversary sale is glitzy with almost a rocker edge to it. Since this is a trend that is mostly seen during the winter it will be difficult to find during this time. However, a way to add some glam to your outfit is with statement necklaces like this one from J.Crew. A pair of classic ballet flats are also a must have for everyone’s closet.
