ALL IN THE DETAILS: A Range of Fall Colors

Obviously, it is a bit ironic that I am studying in a mecca for the fashion industry, yet on a daily basis, none of the outfits that I see on the streets, markets, restaurants, piazzas, bars or clubs ever consist of any other color aside from black. Wearing all black is an elegant look, and it never gets boring. If a woman or a man chooses to wear all black during any given day or night, they are choosing to have fun with textures, details, accents and highlights in their look.

It is getting colder here, so layering is an important part in putting together an outfit for going out in the bustling city of Rome, whether it be during the bright hours of the day or the lively hours of the night. Here, I have photographed a young woman, a student, on her way to pre-dinner drinks with her friends downtown. She is wearing high-waisted black ripped jeans, which are a staple in any wardrobe that can be dressed up or dressed down accordingly. She is also wearing an off-the-shoulder top that is cinched at both the top and bottom. To further add to her colorful outfit, she layers with a new favorite of hers that also happens to be a very classic piece: a leather jacket with black and silver zipper linings. She complements the jacket’s detailing with her choice of silver accessories and her black boots, which mirror the same silver details. Picking and choosing each layer in an all-black outfit leaves room for attention to details and accents. This black creation becomes the perfect outfit for a chilly night out on the streets of Rome.
