When I was little, my mom dressed me in an abundant amount of floral. I had floral dresses, skirts, skorts, shorts, jumpers, hats—I would be dressed head to toe in floral some days. One afternoon a friend came into my room and said all of my flowery clothes were “ugly” and that I should get rid of them. For years I wouldn’t let my mom buy me anything with even a single flower. However, like all trends, they come back, and even before that, I chose to take pride in my love of bright colors and flowers. My room is decorated with different arrangements and I sport floral whenever I please. I am most excited that this season there will be lillies, roses, hibiscuses, and daisies all arranged into a bouquet of patterns on a variety of clothing and accessories. American Eagle embraces this trend, especially with their line of shorts, titled “shorties.”
I had the pleasure of wearing American Eagle Outfitters Floral Denim Shortie in Pale Cloud Wash. With the blend of dark and light wash denim and hints of tangerine and mint green, these shorties are fantastic for the upcoming seasons. Because of the washed out, vintage look, I felt comfortable pairing the floral shorts with another patterned top. The green in the blouse brings out the mint in the shorts, illuminating the range of colors. American Eagle has some fabulous chiffon tanks that would go perfectly with these shorties. To top off the somewhat bohemian look, I added a long sweater. This not only brings more texture to the outfit, but also lengthens your legs, creating a slimmer appearance. I threw in a fedora to fully capture the free-spirited, boho look and combat boots for a deeper color. When warmer weather comes around, American Eagle Outfitters Lace-Up Gladiators would be perfect for this outfit, fostering an edgier look.
Floral print is a very playful and fun trend that is spreading across GW’s campus. Girls can be seen in flowery pants or a floral cardigan, brightening up the sidewalks of DC. American Eagle Outfitters shorties are the perfect addition to your spring and summer wardrobes. They can be worn with a blouse and cowboy boots to a country concert, or with a frayed shirt and turban to a music festival.
