Fashion and style are funny concepts. We are told by some that there are rules, written and unwritten, that you should follow to stay fashionable. We are told by others that to be an innovative individual in the fashion world, it’s necessary to break all the rules. We are constantly bombarded with ideas of what’s right and wrong and fashion can begin to lose some of it’s initial magic. Style is nothing more than self expression, but if we lose the passion for it then what’s the point?
This Fashionisto reminds us how to dress for yourself while keeping your style playful with his dreamy, sailor inspired look. Similar to last week’s featured Fashionista, he is also rocking a bold pink ‘do. However, unlike last week’s Fashionista, my eyes are not immediately drawn to his strawberry locks. Instead, I’m drawn to his amazing patterned shirt. The severe contrast of yellow and black combined with the repetition of the imagery is almost mesmerizing. He tucks the button down into a pair of black sailor shorts, embellished with gold embroidery and gold buttons with small anchors. He completes the look with a pair of black combat boots with gray socks peeking out of the top.
As I mentioned last week, if you’re inspired to color your hair a la My Little Pony, I suggest you try Manic Panic semi-permanent hair color. It’s guaranteed vegan and is available in dozens of different colors.
If you’d like to replicate this Fashionisto’s look, your best bet would be a thrift store. There you can find pieces that are entirely unique to your wardrobe and style, like our featured Fashionisto. If you’re interested in a more tame version of this look, wear a short sleeved button down with a pair of tailored shorts. The color combinations and pattern possibilities are endless.
