STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Tie It With A Bow

Style Advice of the Week

So, to my disappointment last week’s chilly weather was just a tease. But it seems not everyone is as bummed as I am. The majority of the student population seems completely content to once again throw on a pair of shorts and head to class. And although I won’t judge anyone for making their comfort the number one priority when getting dressed in the morning, I will judge a complete lack of effort or style. I’ve said it a ton of times, but I guess another time can’t hurt. Don’t let yourself be boring!

This week’s featured Fashionista figured out the perfect way to stay cool while still looking cool. She rocks a pair of high-waisted, black denim shorts that are held up with a woven brown belt. She pairs the shorts with a light weight, floral print blouse, casually knotted just above her waist. She completes her look with tons of fun accessories (including a small pink bow in the back of her hair) and a pair of black gladiator sandals.

The key to keeping a simple outfit interesting is accessories. A simple shorts and shirt combo can be taken up a notch when paired with a bunch of bracelets and some cool headwear. You can wear bows, like our featured Fashionista, or try a new hat, head chain, headband or turband. All of these take mere seconds to put on, but really can make all the difference.

Another thing that keeps this look fashion-forward is the gladiator sandals. I’m not a fan of sandals in general, but I despise flip flops. They can ruin a good outfit. So next time you're searching for the right footwear, opt for a pretty gladiator sandal or a bootie instead of the flops.
