I know I’ve been saying this for a few weeks now, but now it’s truly official for everyone: summer is here. Across the nation, college students have been finishing their final exams and donning caps and gowns. Finally we can say goodbye to the books and instead embrace the lovely freedom that summer provides.
For those of us who stay in St. Augustine for the summer, we are beyond a doubt blessed. Summer in this town is filled with beach days, bike rides, fun music venues, monthly art walks, the farmer’s market and respective nightly haunts. St. Augustine has a culture that is so unique, creative and wonderful, it only makes sense that, despite the intense summer heat, local students find brilliant ways to stay fashionable.
This week’s Fashionista reflects the easy, breezy St. Augustine lifestyle with her beach inspired ensemble. I spotted her strolling the bay front and couldn’t resist snapping a photo. She begins her look with a flattering, bubble turquoise tube top that reveals her stomach. She wears a flowy, breathable white cotton pant. Her accessories stay on trend with a long chain necklace, embellished with turquoise stones. On her wrist she sports a bold, gold watch and a small silver bracelet. She completes the look with brown, flat leather sandals. Her beauty regime is simple and timeless, with minimal makeup and loose, long tresses that would make any girl envious.
If this Fashionista’s look has you in a beachy state of mind, it isn’t hard to replicate. As we’ve seen from other Fashionistas this spring, you can’t go wrong pairing a crop top with a loose pant just like this Fashionista from Wheaton College. Crop tops are incredibly easy to find in stores this season, but if you’re a crafty Fashionista on a budget, take a few old T-shirts and customize them yourself. It’s amazing what a pair of scissors can do. As for the pants, a printed pajama trouser provides comfort and style. The key to this look is keeping it as low maintenance as possible.
