As much as I want to think about my relaxing week of spring break, there is one barrier that is separating me from the thought of it: midterms. They are getting closer and closer as each week goes by, and the stress is beginning to seep into every body and soul. During this period, we might seek quick energy alternatives like espresso and black tea. However, all the stress and anxiety will not disappear until midterms are long gone. Luckily, there are other stress-relieving remedies that do not include a caffeinated response.
It is definitely not a time to think about fashion but rather about comfort. Wearing comfortable clothing during times of stress can help one feel tranquil and positive. During my study break, I spotted a uniquely dressed and relaxed Fashionista.
Name: Krista Iglesias
Major: Biology
Year: Sophomore
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Krista Iglesias: My shirt is from Urban Outfitters, my jeans are from GUESS and my sunglasses are Dolce&Gabbana. My black combat boots are Dr. Martens and the bracelet is Zara.
CF: What do you love about spring fashion?
KI: I like spring fashion because the weather allows me to dress in shorts one day and wear sweaters with some jeans the next. It’s not too hot or too cold, and it gives me a lot of options.
CF: How would you describe your style?
KI: I’ve never really had a style, but as of now I would say it’s along the lines of edgy and street simple. I like to keep things comfortable and not overdone.
CF: Whee do you get your style inspiration?
KI: I get my style inspiration from a number of places. I like to watch beauty gurus on YouTube who give pointers on how to wear certain items. I also share my clothes with my sister, so I guess she contributes to my style.
CF: Is there anyone who influences your style?
KI: I’m not influenced by anyone particularly, but if I had to choose someone I would say Gwen Stefani. I love how unique she is and how she has always remained true to herself. I don’t necessarily imitate her choices in fashion, but rather the whole personal style concept. She’s just herself and I like that.
CF: What is your key accessory must-have?
KI: My key accessory is definitely my pair of Dolce&Gabbana sunglasses. Since my eyes are very sensitive, I’m afraid of getting cataracts and crow’s feet. And mainly because I paid a pretty penny for them, and I plan on using them until they completely deteriorate. Also, they remind me of Michelle Pfeiffer’s in Scarface, who was wearing some just like that.
How To: Wear a comfortable, knit top from Element and a nice pair of Deena & Ozzy saint leather combat boots from Urban Outfitters. Protect your eyes in a cheap and chic pair of cat-eye sunglasses from MANGO.
