I like to believe that around this point of every year is when the true Fashionista/os on campus arise. The ability to put together a chic ensemble in the midst of midterms, a heavy course load and the inconsistent Mid-Atlantic weather is a gift. Sure, we all love fall fashion, but this odd transitional weather can be a challenge for even the most stylish of Fashionista/os.
This Fashionista I spotted mastered the one thing that’s necessary this season: layering. She opted to wear her chambray shirt unbuttoned and layered a white T-shirt. She wore black denim skinny jeans and her incredibly flattering black ankle booties that elongated her legs. Her oversized Cynthia Rowley tote was large enough to fit all of her essentials for class and her animal print scarf added a fierce touch to a neutral ensemble.
Layering is a great way to make your look dynamic this season. The chambray shirt has been a staple in my closet for several years now. It’s great on it’s own with skirts and colored denim or layer it over a T-shirt to take your look to the next level. Madewell has some of the softest, coziest chambray shirts around that are durable enough to last season after season.
Another great layering piece this fall is the animal print scarf. For those Fashionistas who aren’t quite daring enough to try out this season’s great animal printed skirts, shirts and pants, a printed scarf is a great subtle way to introduce this trend to your wardrobe. This snake print scarf from Zara and this leopard infinity scarf from ModCloth are a great way to take a walk on the wild side.
Just remember, Fashionista/os, when in doubt about the weather this fall, pile on the layers so you’re always prepared for the elements.
