With Thanksgiving around the corner, Christmas commercials airing on a never-ending queue and seasonal Starbucks coffee flavors making their annual comeback, it’s safe to say that winter is back! Right?
Wrong.
With the temperature hitting mid-sixties this past weekend, the UD campus was caught completely off guard. The shorts and tanks we tucked away into the back of our closets made a quick and sneaky resurrection – one that everyone on campus seemed to embrace with open arms. Spring break, is that you?
This week’s Fashionista tied together the very best of summer and fall: A lightweight cardigan and high-waisted shorts. There’s nothing wrong with mixing elements of warmer seasons with the present, especially on days when the warmth pulls a surprise sneak attack on holiday spirit. This Fashionista made her outfit completely season appropriate by choosing a pair of dusky colored shorts that stuck to a traditional fall color palette. Then, by incorporating timeless fall accessories like a scarf, high socks and ankle boots, she gave her look an eye-catching edge. The secret to this Fashionista’s look is to stay true to the season’s guidelines, even if you’re slightly bending the rules.
If you’re bold enough to unite your seasons, choose a pair of season-neutral shorts, like these high-waisted oxblood denims from Urban Outfitters. Team them up with cozy, knee-high socks and booties for an awesome autumn look. (Who needs long pants when you have high socks anyway?) Remember to keep in mind your season staple pieces and colors, and you’ll have no trouble merging 60 degrees with fall.
