Hi CollegeFashionista readers! My name is Albi Solana and I am proud to be kicking off my journey on the site for the upcoming spring semester. I’m currently a sophomore at Villanova University and plan on majoring in Marketing and Real Estate.
Growing up, fashion had always intrigued me. And while I have yet to pinpoint exactly where this interest came about, the ability to express oneself on a daily basis via their clothing is what fascinates me about fashion. That is precisely where I think the term style comes into place. With so much of the Internet and blogosphere often focusing on high-end designers nowadays, their price points can make it difficult to incorporate such clothing. Mixing these garments with everyday pieces to create a look unique to one’s character is what I believe makes each individual’s style truly great.
After a year and a half at Villanova, I can honestly say the student body has a great sense of style. From the plethora of colored pants in the spring or the sharpness of business attire for presentations, the fashion on campus is always a plus. As the contributor for the LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS column, I am eager to document and shed light on men’s style throughout our campus. With such great style, the men at Villanova deserve to be given their own acknowledgement.
As for myself, my style has evolved greatly over the past couple years. Whereas I once considered myself a “sneakerhead” obsessed with the latest Nikes, I would define my current style as a cross between classic Americana and Italian menswear. Must-have items in my wardrobe this coming spring will probably include a few pairs of colored chinos—Villanova has also had its influence—loafers and a classic pair of sunglasses like these by Persol.
I do believe this coming semester will yield great style, and I’m truly excited to share my findings with all of you. Look for my articles on Tuesdays! And of course, please don’t hesitate to approach me on campus. Hope to see you around sometime!
