One of the best pieces of advice I ever received going into college was to get to know my professors. Whether it was asking them for help or just stopping by to say hello, talking to professors outside of class shows you genuinely care about the class. Trust me, they enjoy helping their students and getting to know them outside of the classroom. I know that meeting with a professor one-on-one can be a little intimidating at times but dressing the part can be a major confidence booster.
This Fashionista’s outfit is a perfect example of what to wear when meeting with a professor. It is young yet sophisticated and well put together. Her soft pink oxford shirt and leopard ballet flats keep the outfit youthful while the muted sweater and messenger bag maintain professionalism. To recreate this look start by wearing an oxford shirt under a contrasting colored sweater. Don’t be afraid with color and pattern to keep this style looking current. Next throw on a pair of dark wash denim to be casual and comfortable. Another way to be comfortable and colorful is by adding a cute pair of flats. Again, colors and patterns work great here as long as they do not clash with those worn in the rest of the outfit. Lastly, lose the cute handbag and opt for something a little bit more professional such as a messenger bag. Now you can walk into that office feeling confident and how you are dressed will be one less thing you have to worry about.
One Simple Change: This outfit is one change away from being office appropriate. Simply wear black trouser pants instead of jeans for a work or even a presentation-ready ensemble.
