It is the first week of October and I am still reading the 120 pages of Vogue’s Special Anniversary Issue. I mean, it is not your typical monthly issue that can be flipped through in two minutes. Oh no, this requires cover to cover indulgence as if I am savoring each page like it is a bite of chocolate fudge cake. Except this is way better because reading the magazine is calorie free — it can’t get much better that that.
As much as I would love to spend my entire life savings on the fabulous fall pieces that fill the magazine, it is much more realistic to use the designer collections as an inspiration when shopping for more affordable pieces. This Fashionista’s retro and colorful blouse reminded me of Prada’s geometric prints that are bursting with color. Combined with a sleek pair of trouser black shorts, this outfit has a runway vibe in a campus-friendly alternative.
Another fall collection that I am swooning over is from the Chanel runway. This Peter Pan collar paired with a stunning wide leg trouser can easily be replicated with this blush top from Madewell. It is a great piece for fall and would look adorable with a statement necklace. An additional runway favorite was from Oscar de la Renta with his flattering A-line silhouettes. This J.Crew knit top and this patterned skirt from Forever 21 provides a budget friendly adaptation of the designer look.
With a little creativity and lots of inspiration, you can produce any runway look. Now excuse me while I go finish my last few bites, I mean pages, of Vogue.
