Nothing pops like a classic red lip, which is exactly why I found myself chasing down these Fashionistas. The red lip is absolutely timeless; it can take you from an impossibly chic, sultry, evening look (à la Marilyn Monroe), to a bold, edgy vamp look just like these Fashionistas.
Both Fashionistas hit the mark spot on wearing all black ensembles, having clean pale faces and minimal eye makeup to really accentuate the red lip. When going bold remember to be mindful of the rest of your look. It’s fantastic to do a red lip but, if you choose to do that, keep your outfit simple and your makeup clean! Keeping that in mind you can almost match a red lip at any time of day with any outfit. As we’ve seen lately, Taylor Swift has been wearing a casual red lip out and about. These lovely Fashionistas vamp up their outfits and really make a statement with theirs. Most classically, in the night a bold red lip can make you feel like an old Hollywood star.
My biggest issue with red lipstick has been finding the perfect one. I’ve been through endless brands trying to find one that’s the right red, that won't bleed or flake, and that will last all day (or night). I finally came to the conclusion that the most perfect red had to be Ruby Woo by MAC. It checks off all my points and it always gets compliments.
For fall 2012, go bold! Nothing will make you feel sexier or grab attention like a red lip.
