On the spring 2013 catwalks in New York it was all the rage; models were seen strutting down the runway in fabulous garments with minimal makeup, thus bringing back the age of the fresh-faced beauty look.
This Fashionista that I stopped on the street was dressed wonderfully. A quirky sense of style, wearing silver metallic sandals with black socks, a long silver and black weaved dress, a red headscarf and a matching red Mickey Mouse satchel, it was no wonder I needed to snap up her style. What made this look all the more fabulous though was the fact that there was no distracting, over-the-top makeup to take away from her outfit. Even though it does take some bravery, a fresh face can go a long way in fashion and really draw attention to the details of your outfit and away from any unnecessary makeup.
I did ask this wonderful Fashionista what products she used on her face to give her a natural glowing complexion and she kindly shared with me her face care secrets. Inside her Mickey Mouse tote she carries with her a fresh soy face cream that deeply moisturizes skin and gives it a fresh glow for day-to-day use. She also carried Thalgo’s Terre & Mer Vital Balm with Organic Olive Oil for when her skin is feeling quite sensitive and dry.
I know how difficult it can be to steer away from makeup and to go without the full foundation, mascara and lipstick combo, but sometimes it is worth giving our faces a bit of a break. By also dressing down our faces we can dress up our outfits and avoid looking too over done for the day. For any season, fall or spring, I recommend trying a fresh face. You’ll feel instantly invigorated and free to worry less about makeup and more about your style.
