We were fooled again, apparently it is still March, not May. But alas! There is still fashion advice to be given and students willing to continue bringing great looks to our humble city of Chicago! I was determined, as usual, to not let this wonky weather get me down! So what do I do in these times of need? I rest on my laurels, yes, I'll admit to it, welcome to another glorious boyfriend jeans post! But wait! I assure you it won't be a repeat of any of my other menswear posts, because this fabulous Fashionista took her boyfriend cut jeans to the next level. How did she do this? Pleating! Its all in the pleating ladies.
We've seen a lot of pleating this season; whether its on maxi or midi skirts or fancy blouses, but this is the jeans addition, more laid back and hanging in the quad than sipping tea or shopping in SoHo. I want to talk about a rarely seen, but sometimes very chic when done right, pleated jean. I know, it sounds like a crazy though, but they make a nice comfortable addition to your wardrobe if you wear them right like this student did!
The key here is all about being laid back, these are jeans, they should be boyfriend or boot cut (tighter ones just tend to look not cute at all, and isn't that part of the point?). These are the jeans you pull out on these weird weather days to spice up your relaxed look, to give it a little extra pazazz. They're great for those days where you just want to wear your most comfortable pair of jeans but still look chic. The best part? They can look great in almost any wash either! Light? Dark? Inbetween? Take your pick!
The trick here is to follow this Fashionsita's success in finding the right balance of laid back without looking sloppy or on the other hand, trying to dress up these chill pieces of clothing too much to where it just doesn't look right. Unfortunately this means it is another relaxed look that takes a little bit of work, but I assure you! When done right, it is completely worth it.
