FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Jess Hale

Fashionista Spotlight

In a sea of pastels and short hem lines it was refreshing to see this Fashionista on the College of Charleston campus. When shopping for clothes, I tend to be extremely pickey when it comes to patterns (especially florals and paisley) and to me, this fashionista got it all right. A lot of times people over or under accessorize or wear too many patters that do not go well together, but this Fashionista was able to put together a well balanced outfit.  Keeping things simple on top with a black tee and fine earrings allowed this Fashionista's skirt to stand out and be the focal point of the outfit.  She also kept her footwear simple with a pair of cute tan gladiators. Usually paisley is viewed as an “old lady” print but this Fashionista is able to make it young and fresh with her arm candy and sunglasses. Her orange nail polish and ring also really freshened up this outfit because the not typical color really went well with everything she was wearing!

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal style?

Jess Hale: I would sum up my person style as a mix between boho an vintage-esque.  I buy a lot of my clothes at trift and vintage stores.  One of my favorite things to wear is both mens clothes and old, oversized vintage t-shirts.

CF: What is your go to outfit for class?

JH: My go to outfit for class in the winter is usually jeans and an oversized vintage t-shirt and a casual dress with sandals ro flats in the summer and spring.

CF: Who is your style icon?

JH: My style icons would have to be Zoe Kravitz or my sister who always looks so effortlessly chic.

CF: What is currently on your fashion wish list?

JH: One thing on my wish list is a vintage leather jacket.

How To: To recreate this outfit a printed maxi skirt is a must! To make it your own choose a print that you feel fits your style best and pair it with a simple solid colored shirt, your favorite flat gladiator-like sandals, and your own jewelry!
