Socks — the most fundamental thing that you would wear when you wear sneakers for a run or if you are a Fashionisto. Most of the time besides using it for running, women rarely wear socks with their heels unless it is winter and they wear it underneath their knee-high or thigh-high boots. In short, for a Fashionista, where socks are concerned, they stay out of the public eye. Well, that was the case until the recent runway shows where socks and heels mash up greatly together. The once thought “fashion suicide” suddenly became “fashion saviour”.
While most wears the socks with kitten heels or platform pumps, this Fashionista wears hers a little differently. Wooden clogs with bright yellow stripes with some high socks. Wooden clogs had been a college favourite around Melbourne, mainly for its convenience and comfort, especially when you are running late to class. But wearing the right pair of clogs and the right pair of socks can turn the utility to fashion.
Like always, the Fashionista's outfit is from vintage stores across town. She wears a nice denim jacket with bright floral frock underneath and then paired it with the clog and socks. What is brilliant about this outfit is the not so subtle pop of color and color pairing. She wears a yellow floral frock and matched it with the yellow clog, which in general is too “matchy matchy”, but with the dressing down of colors with the denim jacket and black socks, things turned a different corner.
For those out there who want to do this look, just pop over to your nearest American Apparel or Uniqlo and get a pair of socks. If your outfit is just plain and monochrome, go for bright colored socks and vice versa if you wear bright colored clothes. Or go for bold patterns from polka dots to varsity stripes.
