Studs and spikes have always been trendy and relevant in recent designers collections. This fall and winter is no different. Spikes and studs can be seen on anything you can possibly think of this season. Designers such as Christian Louboutin, Balmain, Versace and countless more have transformed the bold metallic stud to a striking gem on the runway this season. Now, being a college student, which requires living on a student budget (which we all know is not much) we look for these type of trends in our local retailers. Lucky for us NASTY GAL, Tobi, Zara, Forever 21 and more have been presenting the stud and spike embellishment more than ever.
A popular way to rock the stud and spike accents are on shirt collars or leather ensembles that were incorporated in the Year of the Dragon fall runway trend. My personal favorites are the studded accessories. You can find studs handbags, high heels, booties and even combat boots. Another great way to ease into the studded accents is with jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, cuffs and bracelets like this Fashionista.
This Fashionista shows off her rocker chic side with tight black leggings, the perfect black-suede bootie that she found at a local thrift store, and a completely chic faux-fur vest from a local boutique. She tops off her rocker-chic look with a golden-studded cuff and a pair of edgy aviators.
Lastly, for you iPhone lovers out there, a great way to incorporate stud and spikes into your daily ensemble is the lovely studded iPhone case. Check out CollegeFashionista’s very own Style Guru Monika Haebich’s line, Spike It, that has custom made studded iPhone cases for under 20 dollars.
