No matter what your style is whether preppy or rocker, there is no denying that studs are a current must have trend this season. Lady Gaga, Madonna and Ke$ha may be to blame for this trend but either way the '80s punk style studs are back in a more sophisticated yet edgy kind of way! With the now rounded, pyramid and square studs on pretty much every kind of accessory, it adds that extra touch of glam factor.
Where do we even begin with this Fashionista we found? Talk about a star studded outfit from her cool backpack, to embellished shoulder pads, even to her phone case and we can't forget about her Chanel sunnies. One thing's for sure, this Fashionista certainly has the stud trend on lockdown! Let’s start with her Free People studded backpack, the fact that it is splashed with bleach spots puts a little ease on the studs as they almost appear to blend in. I like that these studs are more subtle; however, if you’re all about the studs Free People also has a cool studded convertible backpack! I loved this Fashionista’s mix of soft and hard with her sweet teal sweater and mix of tough leather and spike studded should pads. She carried the tough side throughout her outfit with her dark washed denim jeans and lace up boots, oh and we can’t forget about her phone case! There are so many chic phone cases with pretty florals, cute prints, designer symbols and even studs. This Fashionista got her black studded iPhone case from Rebecca Minkoff and there are plenty more where that came from.
Studs are the new “it” embellishment and they are also an easy DIY activity! While browsing the pages of WhoWhatWear I came across a DIY textured bag strap and just had to share! Inspired from the Chanel Paris-Bombay pre-fall 2012 runway collection, it’s fun and easy to create. Instead of spending $6,900 on the flap boy bag with hand-embroidered strap it’s time to bring out your inner designer and make your own!
Spotted: In the Burberry Prorsum spring 2012 rtw runway collection, designer Christopher Bailey did a spectacular job incorporating studs throughout his designs.
