It's the middle of summer and the heat is on, literally. It seems like someone turned the heat up in Chicago this past week with temperatures in the 100s. Some might think its hard to look fashionable and stay cool in this unbearable weather, but crafty Fashionistas always find a way even if it means breaking from the norm. We've all heard the old rules of fashion: don't mix gold and silver jewelry, match your shoes to your bag and don't wear white after Labor Day. Fashion has evolved since the '80s (even if some of those styles are making a comeback). Now we are seeing Fashionistas strutting way past the fundamentals of fashion by wearing denim on denim and floral with stripes to name a few avant-garde trends.
Is all this rule breaking making it hotter in here, or is it just me? This Fashionista is braving the summer heat with a thin maxi skirt, a sleeveless tuxedo vest with only a bathing suit top underneath, and — are those roller blades? Yup. She went for the unexpected and chose roller blades instead of metallic sandals. Looks like this Fashionista is fearless of the rules. We usually see roller blades paired with a typical sporty outfit of black spandex shorts and breathable tank top or tshirt, but this Fashionista opted for a different look. Her brown maxi and patterned vest dress up her casual blades while the outfit as a whole portrays a somewhat grungy look. This Fashionista did a great job of breaking the norm and staying cool in this heat wave. Just think of all the breezes she'll be catching while gliding around town.
While this Fashionista wore her blades with a vest and maxi skirt, black roller blades can easily be paired with many other outfit combinations. Try jean shorts and a neon tank, or a dainty floral dress, but you might want to wear some spandex shorts underneath just in case the breeze gets the better of you.
