During this chilly winter weather, it is great to have a pop of color in your outfit to combat the dreary atmosphere of the outdoors. However, sometimes it is more appropriate to work with the elements and embrace the neutral palette of the season. This week’s Fashionista does just that; she rocks her neutrals in her accessories!
The first thing I noticed about this Fashionista was her deep brown bag and shoes. A rich deep brown is without a doubt my favorite neutral. While it can be paired with any other color, it can be strong enough to stand out on its own like it does on this Fashionista. Her classic Longchamp bag and Etienne Aigner riding boots provide an unexpected pop of rich brown against her jacket and everyday blue jeans.
This Fashionista models a muted army green anorak jacket from Cotton. The faux fur trim around the hood and bold front pockets give enough detail to this neutral-colored jacket that it becomes a piece to be worn with any outfit and could stand alone as the focus. Finally, she wears a simple beige infinity scarf looped twice around her neck to be the third neutral in this ensemble. This Fashionista is a great example of how neutrals don’t have to be in the background; they can be worn deliberately to be the focus of the outfit!
Spotted: J. Mendel's fall 2012 runway show featured a neutral palette and many furs. If you are looking to rock some faux fur but don’t want to go all out, find a faux-fur trimmed hood like this week’s Fashionista for a subtle touch.
