Just because winter is approaching doesn't mean you have to stick to a strictly gray and black color palate. Yes, I know. Gray and black are not the only colors you can wear in the winter, but I feel like a lot of people, my self included, gravitate towards these shades when there's a chill in the air. But, its not necessary. You can bring back the colors you loved wearing in the summer. That's right, I said summer. What better way to brighten up a cold and gray December day than by wearing a bright neon color. This post is dedicated to a Fashionista that brightened up my day and I'm sure many others days too.
Like how I find all my Fashionistas, this one was no different. Her eye catching neon accessory made me stop in my tracks. Then, as I approached this Fashionista, I realized it was none other than my good friend and old roommate. What a coincidence! As we caught up I couldn't pull my eyes away from her neon pink infinity scarf. I feel like it popped even more on this particularly cloudy day. Neon colors in the summer usually blend in with everyone else's colorful ensembles, the bright colored flowers and the usual bright blue sky. But in the winter, neon beams amongst the gray skies and bare trees. Now you can't say that neon is only for summer. Why else would Gap make a neon knit infinity scarf?
I love how this Fashionista wears her neon pink knit with a more subtly colored coat. Although the dark maroon color is different for a winter coat, it's subdued by the bright pink. Its rich color also makes the neon element blend in a tiny bit. She kept the rest of her accessories simple and in brown. I like that she isn't wearing black in any part of her outfit because it can be a very harsh color. The brown bag and boots and the gray pants are softer colors and they help subdue the neon pink. Neon accessories bring warmth to a winter outfit and show off the fun side of getting dressed in the morning.
Spotted: Neon accented knits were seen going down Dolce&Gabbana's fall 2011 ready-to-wear runway.
