Leather is certainly back on the map when it comes to fashion trends lately. Whether it’s real or faux, it’s unescapable. My most recent purchase were leggings with faux leather paneling down the sides. Just that little touch of leather is all you need. This Fashionista focused her leather accents on her boots and skirt. The leather skirt, a classic 1993 grunge piece, has been reintroduced in an entirely new fashion. It’s all about how you wear it. Paired with lacey purple tights and a cotton top, it softens the outfit while still holding on to that little bit of edge. For a classic look, this ASOS leather mini is just what the stylist ordered (plus, I’m a fan of the Tiger sweater they set with it). American Apparel is one more retailer following the trend by adding color to the skirts and coupling them with bright, color blocked sweaters and tights.
This Fashionista’s leather boots are another great touch to her outfit. Slouchy leather boots are not only stylish, but also comfortable and versatile. There are so many styles out there that aren’t necessarily meant to be worn this way, but can be slouched down over leggings or jeans for a different feel. These come in brown and black, and have just enough of a heel to give you that extra “oomph.” There’s no denying that Steve Madden knows how to make good shoes. My favorite part about this Fashionista’s look are her socks. Not only do they match her tights, but the complete look is super cute! Let your socks show under those slouchy boots once in a while! Here, she went with basic, thin, knee-high socks, but for something more fit for cold weather, try sweater socks. Or if you don’t want to buy them, there is a genius solution that I found on Pinterest, of course! Take an old sweater or a really low cost one from a thrift store, cut off the sleeves and voila! Leg warmers!
In the end, when it comes to cold weather, staying warm is key. Layering different fabrics and textures is the secret to a warm and fashionable ensemble!
