When it comes to trends, one of the more popular ones I have seen emerge onto the fashion scene is studs and spikes. Think of any clothing item or accessory and just add studs. It could be a denim or leather jacket, a hat or even a clutch. You can even take a killer pair of heels and make them murderous by adding studs. This further confirms the individualistic route that fashion has taken; embellishments are no longer confined to our bodies. You can put them just about anywhere now.
This trendy Fashionista subtly rocks the stud trend and it complimented her acid-washed jeans and flaming red hair perfectly. Her studded biker boots instantly took her laid back outfit from just stylish to stylish grunge chic and she wore it well.
Spotted everywhere from runways to your everyday shoe store, companies are capitalizing on a trend that looks like it's going to be here for a while. That’s another great thing about fashion — there are endless options that suit everyone’s style and budget. Studs make a bold statement so they might not be for everyone, but if you’re worried that you may not be able to pull it off, start small. Tap into your inner “do-it-yourselfer” and add studs to the pocket of an old shirt to give it back some life. Wear it around for a day and see how you feel. If you want studs on your boots similar to the ones this Fashionista is wearing, you can do that yourself too! If you don’t feel crafty, no worries, these studded beauties from Dirty Laundry should do the trick.
Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself and try a trend. You never know if you like it unless you give it a shot, and if you don’t, you can always move on to the next one. Studs are a great trend to try because you can rock it subtly.
Spotted: Studs were on the runway in Jason Wu’s collection at New York Fashion Week for fall 2012.
