Accessories Report

With the chilly winter weather we had this past week, I saw many bundled up students rushing from the warmth of one building to the next, wearing an array of scarves, hats, mittens and gloves. However, it was this week’s Fashionista that caught my attention with her chic cold weather accessories, particularly her cable knit infinity scarf.

When freezing temperatures start settling in, it’s tempting to throw on the same knit hat, gloves and scarf every day over a sweatshirt when heading to class. But don't fall into that trap; this time of year is one of the best times to be creative with accessories! There are endless hat, ear warmer, mittens and scarf combinations to make and pair with different jackets and boots. Take this week’s Fashionista: She could have worn her fashionably cozy infinity scarf with a hoodie and sweatpants, but instead she pairs it with a chic black peacoat. She keeps it casual on the bottom with a classic pair of American Eagle destroyed skinny jeans tucked into knee high caramel colored boots, courtesty of Charlotte Russe. Perhaps tomorrow she will wear the same scarf and boots but instead rock them with an oversize sweater and bandage skirt with tights! Cold weather accessories are all about their versatility and ability to be paired with a variety of outfits.

So Fashionistas/os, when frigid temperatures strike, take advantage of the opportunity to get creative with your outfits. Try as many combinations of winter accessories you can and your fashionable ensembles might just help enjoy the cold weather a little more!

Spotted: Jason Wu’s fall 2012 ready to wear runway show featured many winter accessories, such as elbow length gloves and lush scarves and pashminas. Take a note from his show and don’t be afraid to show off a fabulously bold winter accessory this season!
