Accessories Report

Coming out of summer and into fall, there's one item that seems to be on every Fashionistas mind: boots.  For those of us in California, we are granted the privilege to break out our fall boots much further down the road than in most other areas of the country. When there's rain or even clouds, you can bet every girl is taking full advantage of pulling a pair on over some cozy winter socks. Before the weather is predicted to return to a 75 degree high next week, Loyola is taking advantage of the opportunity.

It was hard to miss this Fashionista as she walked in front of the communications building in her fuchsia colored rain boots. These boots are both playful and show a girl with a lot of confidence that wants to be seen. What I loved so much is how different they are from other rain boots. Still a fan of black and gray, or other darker tones, the cheerful pink is a nice contrast to dreary weather. Simply add a bright white sweater and a smile to a pair of your own to achieve a look like this.

This Fashionista sports a more casual look but I also like when rain boots are dressed up a little. Being in California, we have a unique ability to both wear rain boots and bare legs. Pairing rain boots with a short, full skirt under a longer military jacket and a scarf is a way to make darker toned rain boots as fun as this Fashionista’s bright ones.

Dark, bright or patterned, rain boots have made a swift transition from an accessory of utility to one of style; a transition we should all be thankful for!

Spotted: Rainboots were featured on the Dsquared2 spring/summer ready to wear runway.
