This Fashionista was spotted grabbing some groceries inside Beaty Market on one of the more blustery days of the fall semester. She bundled up in leather leggings, black combat boots, a dark grey long-sleeved T-shirt and accented the look with a leather motorcycle vest.
The vest is an accessory that truly makes the outfit. Plenty of Fashionistas’ closets are home to full-sized motorcycle jackets, but how many style connoisseurs can say they’ve incorporated the sleeveless take on the trend into their looks? The vest allows greater versatility as far as weather temperatures go, and the style’s lack of overuse ensures its wearer remains ahead of the fashion curve.
Leather garments, often associated with rockstars and motorcyclists, no doubt add an edge to any ensemble with which they’re paired. Choosing to wear three leather items in one outfit definitely projects a “Bad to the Bone” attitude.
This Fashionista wasn’t all about the dark mood, though. She worked a dark blue headband into the look that was flecked with metallic gold splashes. The hair accessory held the Fashionista’s hairstyle back in an elegant manner, while adding a feminine touch to the rugged look.
Spotted: Motorcycle jackets were a key element in Balmain’s fall 2012 collection. Many variations of this style were seen on the models, including denim, leather and patterned versions.
